Women and Girls week 2023

Winston Hills Cricket Club celebrates the impact of both Julie May (much loved life member) and Bernadette Robson during this very special week in our game’s calendar.

Without Julie, one of the early drivers of female cricket in our club, we simply would not have the numbers across Stage 2 and Stage 3 teams we enjoy now. That tireless, formative advocacy and personal investment of time and passion has yielded great reward. Many of our Stage 3 female players began as Milo Blasters participants at Julie’s warm invitation.

Julie was also the principal convenor of the yearly Women of Winsto event which celebrates everything that girlfriends, wives, mothers and grandmothers do to support the cricketers in their families. Keep an eye out for WoW 2024 at https://www.winstonhillscc.com/events

Julie's work laid excellent foundations for our Female Cricket Coordinator Bernadette to enthusiastically build and grow the game for our female players through recruitment and retention planning and implementation.

A busy, proud cricket mum, Bernie models importance of team and positive culture always. We also celebrate her unique and experienced perspective as a skilled cricketer herself, enlightening and inspiring those with representative aspirations.

We are indebted to this model of leadership by both women and will raise a bat in your honour this weekend! That our girls love the game of cricket is not by accident: it's the fruit of your passion and labours.

🧡🖤🏏
